Tim Doherty currently serves as Executive Vice President, Head of Ground Lease Investments. Mr. Doherty leads the investment team of Safety, Income & Growth, Inc (NYSE: SAFE), a public REIT focused on the acquisition and creation of ground lease investments across all property types nationwide. SAFE is the first publicly traded company focused solely on ground lease investments and is externally managed by iStar. Mr. Doherty worked at iStar between 2000 and 2008 and recently rejoined iStar in 2013. Prior to becoming the Head of Ground Lease Investments, he focused on structured finance having worked on over 60 transactions totaling more than $5 billion during his tenure at iStar. The transaction structure types included first mortgage, mezzanine, B-notes, preferred equity, DIP financing, participations and corporate finance investments and included all traditional property types (office, retail, hotel and industrial) and non-traditional product types (self-storage, entertainment and land). Prior to his latest tenure at iStar, Mr. Doherty co-founded and operated Shem Creek Capital (“SCC”), a boutique real estate finance fund located in Boston, MA. Prior to joining iStar Financial in 2000, Mr. Doherty was at Archon Group, a subsidiary of Goldman Sachs, investing on behalf of the Whitehall funds. He received his BS in Finance from Georgetown University.

David Sotolov currently serves as Executive Vice President, Head of West Coast Originations, a role he assumed for iStar, SAFE’s manager, in 2015. He is responsible for overseeing iStar’s structured finance and real estate investments throughout the western U.S. Since joining the company in 2007, Mr. Sotolov has held multiple roles at iStar, responsible for managing a portfolio of real estate loans, investments, and development projects throughout the Southwest Region including Texas, Arizona, Nevada and Southern California with an aggregate exposure exceeding $2 billion. Prior to joining iStar, Mr. Sotolov spent eight years with Fremont Investment & Loan. From 2005-2007, he served as Senior Vice President in the Phoenix Loan Origination Office of Fremont where he was responsible for sourcing, structuring and executing over $1.5 billion in commercial real estate loans across multiple product types including condominiums, apartments, office, retail, hotel and land development. From 2000-2005, he held various positions in the Asset Management group at Fremont where he was responsible for managing a portfolio of bridge and construction loans located across the country. Mr. Sotolov holds a BS degree from University of California at Los Angeles.

Adam Matos currently serves as a Senior Vice President in the Investment Team for iStar, SAFE’s manager. He is responsible for originating, underwriting and negotiating new investment opportunities for both iStar and SAFE, with a focus on the U.S. Midwest markets. Since joining the company in 2008, Mr. Matos has worked on over $2.0B of new investments transactions, which include all structure types including ground leases, first mortgage loans, mezzanine loans, preferred equity and JV equity capital as well as a variety of real estate product types including multifamily, residential condo, office, hospitality and senior housing. Mr. Matos graduated magna cum laude with a BS degree in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Rodger Morris currently serves as a Vice President in the Investment Team for iStar, SAFE's manager, with a primary focus on Northern California and Pacific Northwest markets. Since joining iStar in 2007, Mr. Morris has been involved in $1.5 billion of transactions between a combination of new loan originations and asset management responsibilities, predominantly with residential multifamily and condo projects. Prior to joining iStar, Mr. Morris worked in Citigroup's Investment Bank, where he focused on leveraged buyouts and the healthcare services industry. Mr. Morris graduated with a BA in Economics and BS in Business Administration from the University of California at Berkeley.
